One of the trivia questions on Twitter made me aware of 3-D printing.

I had not even heard of it before.  Last week I was in an Invest Ed class with other teachers.  We were tasked with coming up with a stock that was unique or creative in someway and do a presentation.  I remembered 3-D printing being a new thing so we looked up stocks related to that.  We found a company that uses similar technology to make prototypes.  We did a presentation utilizing this company's information.  It was a growth stock and paid no dividend. The instructor had told us not to Focus on the latest greatest thing!   But the growth rate of the stock was phenomenal.   And the one guy in our group got hung up on the fact that you could make tools with the thing.  I was focusing on the creative side and the inventor side and how to use it in fashion(Thanks to what I learned from you).  At any rate we had no product samples or anything special to show and there was nothing creative about our presentation... I didn't think we had a chance of making a good impression.  HOWEVER..... The company was so new, the stock so well performing ,the products soooo techy , And I was able to explain it's future potential growth thanks to what I learned on Twitter ........the panel of actual brokers loved it!   we ended up winning first place.  We got Invest Ed  T-shirts and a backpack and stuff like that but it was fun !!!!
Thanks for keeping educators aware of the latest and greatest!
:D

Note from Josie: Thank you for the wonderful personal story, Lisa Ann and thank all the rest of you for your willingness to look FORWARD at emerging technology. We know that our world is constantly changing and our goal at B-Sew Inn is to keep an eye on future technologies, while staying true to our past and never losing sight of essential skill-sets. Our research of 3D Technology has revealed that textile & culinary applications already exist, and as such, we are excited to continue exploring HOW 3D fits into the Big Picture. We love the idea of being POINEERS in this field and we encourage other like-minded educators to join us in our discoveries.
