Flower Frill Templates

What is it? -  Henry Beecher famously wrote, "Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into."  Claude Monet felt that he owed his iconic professional career to flowers.  And don't even get started with poets.  But how do we feel about flowers?  They're important to us too.  We use them to say I love you, I'm sorry, good luck, congratulations or get well.  And we use them not only to adorn all of the special occasions of our lives but also to make all of the occasions in our lives special.  A beautiful bouquet of flowers makes a house a home.  Flowers are part of our lives and we love 'em.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could make them?  Fashion blossoms from our personal stashes of fabric?  Just think of all of the colors and textures you have in there.  Chiffon, taffeta, netting, batiks, florals, solids, and who knows what else?  The combinations are probably as close to endless as you can get.  But is it difficult to make fat quarters bloom into beautiful bouquets?  Could be but certainly doesn't have to be.  Clover's Flower Frill Templates make it easy.  You select the size, color, texture and fullness of your flowers.  Mix and match colors and textures to create your own personal floral fantasy. What does it do? -Clover's Flower Frill Templates allow us to make beautiful flowers one gorgeous petal at a time.  You are free to create with reckless abandon. Flower sizes - Flower Frill Templates are available in three packages representing six sizes.  Large and Extra Large at 5 inch and 6 inch finished sizes.  Small and Medium at 3 inch and 4 inch finished sizes.  Mini and Extra Small at 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch finished sizes.  That size range can accommodate everything from home decor to jewelry.     "Template how to" - Each template is made of heavy card stock with fold lines marked and numbered.  Simply fold the template around a halved portion of fabric.  That's the first fold.  Follow in suit for the second and third folds as marked on the template.  Trim around the template outer edge with shears (or pinking shears for a unique look) being careful not to cut the template and then stitch through the point of the fabric with a threaded needle.  That's the first petal.  Now just repeat that step until you have enough petals for the desired fullness.  When all the petals are complete just join the thread ends together and shape by hand.  It's that easy.

Questions that have recently been asked about the Education Challenge

Question...I have made the little quilt from the Anita's Essentials book and I also made the little key purse and the butterfly and bee additions.  May I attach the butterfly and bee to the quilt to make it 3-d?  Also, one block is duplicated on the quilt.  Will it still count as 60 points, as well as the butterfly, bee, and purse, plus the 200 bonus for making the quilt?  I was not sure how to count that on the score sheet.

ANSWER: Yes, you may attach the butterfly and bee to the quilt to make it 3D. There are no rules against added embellishments. Please make certain that they are firmly attached and keep in mind that we will be exercising added care with this quilt, but cannot guarantee that smaller attached items will not become lost or loosened over the course of the conference. We will CERTAINLY try to return the quilt in the same condition that you sent it in, but we can't guarantee that smaller attachments will not experience more wear & tear.

 2)one block is duplicated on the quilt.  Will it still count as 60 points
ANSWER: No the duplicated block will not count for 60 points. The award of 200 points for the completed Quilted Version of the project includes the extra points for this portion.

3) Paraphrased: Will adding the bee & butterfly & purse to the quilt still count the same it would for the 60  Section Points? 
ANSWER: No. These 3 sections were designed to be stand-alone projects, and need to be sent in as separate items to count for the points. These smaller documentation items will not be returned.

* Use the box on the Right Side of the Screen, titled: Already Registered

Another Way to Earn Education Challenge Points-Flash Points!

For those of you that would like to earn Education Challenge Flash Points with Anita Goodesign's Fundamental Curriculum this is the POST you have been waiting for...

The tutorials in the book teach 15 techniques that will enhance your embroidery knowledge, but now you can also earn Education Challenge Points by them.

Each section will be worth 60 points individually and an extra 200 Bonus Points if the stitched samples are completed to create the finished project on pages 40-46. Finished Quilt Projects will be displayed at Summer Conferences and returned afterward. (See below for more details.)

To receive points for any section, the stitched sample square must be mailed/UPS'd using the exact same document requirements as all other Education Challenge Documentation. This includes, but is not limited to: Correct address, mailing or shipping vs. drop off, listing on Tracking Sheet, etc. Purchase of the curriculum will be verified following the same process that is listed for Baby Lock Workbook/Inspiration Guides. These requirements are listed several times in the Education Challenge Information.

You do not need to send a Completed Project to receive points for the individual sections. You can send individual stitched samples of the techniques.

Documentation (your stitched samples) will NOT be returned unless they have been sent in as the Completed Project (page 40-46 of the curriculum). Please don't send an email telling us that you want to finish it later. We are making an exception for finished projects only.

We WILL BE displaying the Completed Projects at Summer Conference, and as such, there is a chance that soiling and/or damage could occur. We will do our best to protect your finished projects but entry into the Education Challenge releases us from all liability in regards to your entry. If this is the Very First Quilt that you have ever completed and/or it is Very,Very Special to you, we recommend that you forego the extra 200 points and not risk a mishap. Finished Projects will be returned in person at Summer Conference or UPS'd to school location after the first day of school.

Learning Resources for the Bravo

Today post will only be of interest to a small portion of you, but occasionally we use this space to store specific information to meet individual Education Division requests. It allows the information to be easily accessible now, and in the future. This post is one of those times.

Recently, we have received a few requests for Learning Resources on the Bravo Machine.

Those of you that have this machine know that there are video tutorials loaded into the software, but the massive number of them can be overwhelming to even think about. Listed below are the ones we believe to be MOST BENEFICIAL to get you up and running in the shortest time span. The list is separated according to skill level.

 If you are an educator, and you are just getting to know your machine, you should begin by watching the video topics listed under ALL STUDENTS. These are short video clips. Not long, drawn out monologues. You'll be able to breeze thru these in no time. All of this information is important and you really should not use the Bravo Machine before you have a grasp for these details.
